I am very excited to have the opportunity to be your child's first grade teacher. First grade is an amazing year full of new experiences and learning opportunities. This year, your child will learn new math skills such as adding and subtracting with ease, measuring objects using centimeters and inches, telling time, counting money, etc. Your child will also learn important skills to make reading easier. By the end of first grade, your child will not only be able to read, but will have a love for reading. In Religion, your child will learn about God and how much he loves us. We will also learn many amazing stories about Jesus. In science, we will learn about the Earth by studying rocks, the sun, and the animals that call the Earth home. In Social Studies the children will learn about the World around them. We will study families, schools, communities, and America. I know your children are going to have a wonderful year in first grade.

First Grade Supply List

1 box of crayons

1 box of washable markers

1 sturdy pencil box

5 pencils (or more) Please make sure they are sharpened.

1 pair of scissors (safety)

1 plastic ruler (with inches and centimeters)

5 glue sticks

1 paint shirt

1 package of baby wipes

1 package of clorox wipes

1 roll of paper towels

2 boxes of tissues

1 plastic folder with pockets

coloring or activity books

1 1/2" plastic 3-ringed binder (clear front pocket with inside pockets)

These folders can be found in any office supply store including staples, target, and office max.
